In TramitApp, it is possible to configure the company's vacation policy on calendar days or working days. We will explain how they differ and how to count them.
According to the law in Spain, all workers have the right to a minimum of 30 natural vacation days, which is equivalent to 22 working days.
Calendar days and working days differ in the way they are counted. When calculating the vacation days taken by an employee in working days, we will exclude holidays during that period: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
However, if we make the same calculation in calendar days, we have to count all days off, including holidays.
A practical example: A worker wants to extend a weekend and requests two vacation days. The Friday before that weekend and the following Monday.
If their vacation policy is counted in working days, only two days will be counted as vacation days: Friday and Monday. But if we do the same calculation with vacation days in calendar days, it will be four vacation days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
In other words, natural days are counted from the first day of vacation until the day before returning to work (both inclusive).
